Back to Logging It has been a while logging my rides but mainly due to putting it off as the rides pile up. The season is in full swing now and with the past couple of months including our Tri Country Tour and the Pyrenean Traverse, I am certainly getting the distance in.
I am feeling much better now on the climbs, dropping my gearing down and increasing my cadence. I have now leveled out weight wise and steady at around 82 Kg which I think is a good weight for me. My power has increased and my endurance has definitely got better as a short ride for me now seems to be 4 hours with 8 to 10 hours in the saddle be the norm with our tours. But I still have a lot of fitness to gain to increase my speeds up the mountains and this will only be done with more training and more rides with "faster" riders. I have the Iron CAMP coming up in two weeks with quite a few fast guys coming over and we will ride Stage 16 and Stage 17 of the Tour de France back to back over two days with also another 500 km during the week. I have found riding 2 week heavy blocks (1200 Km) with a 3 to 4 days rest afterward is really helping my recovery. This is a very exciting experiment this year and it is keeping me motivated hopefully to the end of the season at least. Tour De France for us starts Friday, very busy week with the Etape and also 3 mountain stages - should be a lot of fun. More to come...... Jun 1st 2010 to Jun 30th 2010 (30 days) In need of a few more calories.... I had a good run today. It was planned to be the longest run but as I have had a bit of an erratic week when it comes to run training I decided to cut it down to a specified loop I had in my head.
It is funny as now I am using some of my cycling ... Thin = Faster ....... FACT !! So, my training has been going well over the past few weeks and my injury sees to have passed, thankfully. But the time I had off I put to good use and managed to lose 11 Kg which was over 11% of my total body weight. I noticed the impact straight ... Bit of a slacker !! This week has been a bit weak on the training side. I suppose I can put it down to rehab for my calf problem which now seems to be well and truly rested. My last bike and run (all indoors) felt great and I want to put in a solid week of training (s... Still tormented with injury!! It has been a bit erratic this week and I have not ventured outside to run. I am still getting a niggling pain in my left calf, just inside the Achilles. I am struggling to work out what it is but I think it is where I am pushing off from the foref... 1st outdoor ride of the year !!! Sounds terrible seeing as it is the 29th but I just have not had the inclination to get out in the cold and when it has been nice I am doing work around the house to get everything ready for the upcoming season.
But, I told myself to go out this mor... FROZEN LOSER SO I have not done a thing this week. I wanted to give my left calf a good chance of recovery while I am still quite a few weeks out from the Marseille Marathon.
I started icing the calf each day. I wore my compression socks and then strapped ... It had to happend - Injured!! I have had two great weeks of consistent running with no problems at all. Then the snow arrived and I went out a couple of times for some great running. Again no problems although my Achilles were stretching a bit due to the high leg action used in... | Ian's Training Log Previous posts Archive Tags aimee alex vero bobby mcgee calories col d'azet col des ares compex cyclepowermeters.com downward spriral epic camp fabio casartelli fight club frostbite garmin gastrocnemius kona marathon marseille powertap powetap pyrenean traverse raid pyrenees rides run sportive sufferfest time trial withings yak trax My Links Introduction I am trying to get back some constency in my training after a terrible year starting with my ACL operation, rehab and then re-injury of the hamstring when I tried to come back to early. Then a torn ligment pulling some bone of my shoulder from swimming to much with bands only and then a crash descending at 60 kph resulting in a cracked collarbone. So now I will be starting running and swimming from scratch so it shoudl be a very exciting experiment to see what I can do - I want to race Ironman next year and have several other smaller running goals. This is ground zero and I have a hell of way to go...... |
