A little blog about being a triathlon coach. Here you'll find a little diary about my activities as a coach, the performances of the people I work with and my thoughts and opinions on what makes athletes faster for longer.

Running towards the finishing line of this season.

With the season gradually coming to a close, racing are starting to decrease in number however the quality of performance continues to be high. This weekend saw Endurance Sports Coaching athletes at the World Championships, Bala and Perrenporth.

World Triathlon Championships

Fresh from her 6th place at the Vitruvian Sam Hayward flew out to the World Triathlon Championships to compete for GB in the 30-34 age-group. A stunning PB by 17 minutes to finish 26th in her age groups shows just how much Sam has improved over the season and is testament to the effort and determination she puts into her training together with a well planned and targeted training plan. Great effort Sam - next stop IMWA!

Jimmy Goddard and Dave Cooke both competed in the Paratriathlon T1 class finishing a respectable 6th and 7th in difficult rainy conditions. Jimmy's performance comes after a very good month of training in warmer climes and is now preparing for the Berlin hand bike marathon in two weeks. Tom Perkins wrapped up the Paratriathlon results by finishing in 8th in a very competitive age-group with a superb bike/run combination which is particularly pleasing after a tough August. Dave and Tom are now going into a recovery phase to get relax from good seasons before the preparation for next year begins.

Back in the UK Rob Hughes and Phil Denny completed Bala Triathlon in North Wales. Both putting in respectable performances and learning a few things to take forward to their racing next year. This completes a successful fact finding season for Phil Denny who will now have a short rest before going for a longer distance next year!

Finally, Will Poole put in a great performance to finish 8th at Perranporth. After what sounds like a very tough swim (although this is why it is known as a surf Triathlon!) Will put in his trademark strong bike and steady run to wrap up a very good season of triathlon before trying something different with some ultra-long runs!

Once again: Great Work Team!
