This one will a short one this week because I┬'ve missed a couple of sessions early in the week.
Tuesday was a rest day so I didn┬'t do much, well except eat, I┬'ve noticed that even when I┬'m not training I┬'m still eating loads, from bowls of cereal, slices of toast, couple of biscuits to pieces of fruit. It┬'s like my body thinks it┬'s training and I keep fuelling it!
Wednesday morning I missed swimming but I wasn┬'t too pissed at that because a few of us were going sea swimming before the run session in the evening. We headed down early to get our wash on in Lough shinny Harbour, Jeremy, Barbie and I got suited up and headed into sea to find we had walked into what I can only describe as rock field!!!! We were knee high deep and we couldn┬'t walk anywhere without stepping on rocks! The shouts and screams out of us... well mainly me. My pinkies were getting an awful time trying to either get back to shore or get deep enough to swim! Finally we found a rock free zone where we got our swim on. The tide was out so we had very little area to swim with so we swam from one buoy to another about 100meters away. Suzanne, Glenn and Donal showed up and joined us, id say this is the reason why Mr. Seal arrived! I┬'d say he wanted to try mate with Donal, sure who wouldn┬'t... it was a funny sight, 4 men shitting themselves at the sight of the seal, Suzanne making a b-line for the beach and Barbie just floating there a calm as anything! Every time the seal went under the water we freaked out expecting it to pop up next to us! But nope id say he was more afraid of us than we were of him! Seal won and out we got to get ready for the run session! Jeremy┬'s van has been used as a changing room for nearly every event we done last year so it was to be no different this time.... well!!! There was a Q this time! Barbie being the only female in the group got to use it first! Jesus it was like she was only short of blow-drying her hair in the van only she could find the plug in the back! Women take ages to get changed, her excuse was ┬"it hard to get into lycra┬" point taken and agreed so we waited our turn! This was my first run session in two weeks due to my tight calf so I wasn┬'t gonna push it too hard, We were doing 6 x 1km sprints with 3 minutes recovery. The calf/back of the knee job felt good but it was a tiny bit kniggley. I finished out the set with only easing off on one of the sets. Cool down and a good owl banter with the lads in the car park.
Thursday was a write off, I was going to go out for a run but I said I would take it easy to give the leg a rest.
Friday morning was club swim time and the set was a real number counter (you know how that will go) 200m-400m-800m-400m-200m. I sat in behind Dinny to try test myself because he is a very good swimmer and I wanted to try keep up! First 200 were grand, 400 were ok, 800m he put a nice gap in-between us and I lost count of the laps I had done! The rest I was flying solo because Dinny was too far ahead! It was a good hard session and my shoulders agreed!
I┬'ve missed kettlebells for a few weeks and Barbie said she was going to the same class so it was time to feel the pain! Great class, with even an appearance from Meatball aka Seana, I was using the 24kg and 16kg kettlebells during the class so I knew I was gonna feel the PAIN Saturday! Pizza was my reward for that class and I think I earned it!
Brick session and
Saturday morning we had brick session planned and numbers were high for the session! Quick spin out to the secret location for our ninja club session, Liuwe told us the route and what was on the agenda for the session and away we went! I was in the lead group for the 1st lap but as always when Mr. Hill arrived i said good-bye to them! I was in-between groups for the next lap and then disaster struck, my left tri bar started to become loose and ended up dropping completely! Doh, shit, bollox, fuckady fuck was only a few of the words going trough my mind.. I was blessed that Glenn and Donal were out for spin and Glenn had allen keys with him. About a minute and a half lost and the second group had caught and passed me! Tri bars fixed and away i went, all momentum lost but back on track, finished off the lap and into T1 i went, the 2nd group were there, Feet out of pedals, jump off the bike, helmet off and shoes on and gone, i passed a couple there and had Ger in my sights (running with his helmet still on as you do) out on the run, passed him and away i went. Back on the bike and away i went, I find it hard to pace myself while cycling with no-one to keep in my sight so its always hit and miss with me on the bike, lap two on the bike and Ger goes whizzing past me at the bottom of the hill screaming as he was pumping his legs to get him up the hill! He had put in a fair gap by the top of the hill so it was try catching him instead of stay with him. T2 again and i managed to pull in a few seconds on Ger and that┬'s the way it stayed for the run. Back on the bike for the final loop, i had ger in my sights for the whole loop but he had enough of a gap and maintained that for the run, he even had the cheek (excuse the pun) to pull down his shorts to show my his ass for about 10meters, he claimed that it might have spurred me on to catch him! I was well staying away from that sweaty ass! Job done and one of the hardest brick session┬'s ive done! Home and shower and a little nap for all the work that i had done!
Brick session and
Sunday morning i met Barbie and Meatball for a run in Skerries. It was a nice slow run with a few hills put in for good measure! 13.5km done in an hour and half so it wasn┬'t a hard pushed pace. Its soooo different when you go running with blokes and ladies! Blokes talk is mostly filth and crap talk, but when your running with Ladies the topic is completely different, Getting their hair done, the royal wedding, what her clothes were like, reality TV, what they do for dinner and no filth talk. I think it┬'s very funny how different the conversations are! But it was great crack running with the girls even though it was a windy day and they wanted to draft me to make it easy for them! I'd say they just wanted to check out my ass as i ran, no doubt they will tell you a different story but we all know im right! .
It was a good weeks training this week even though i missed the early morning sessions.
Ive been slightly bold regarding the chocolate front, there is still a few eggs left around the house for Easter so i had to put manners on them before the went out of date.... My excuse anyway! I still haven┬'t had a packet crisps since the start of lent so im well pleased with that! My chocolate has been cut down by about 95% so im doing well and I hope to start seeing some more weight drop off! Hopefully!!!!!

I also found a picture from my last holiday away before I started triathlon training, peaking a 20stone and topless! This will be displayed for the right price!
Brick session and
After a couple of months with my new tri bike ive decided to call my bike the white fox!, it will now be addressed as "The White Fox", will be cleaned on a more regular basis and please take note that it's to be approached with extreme caution as it is temperamental and can cause harm to the strongest man. All questions about ┬"The White Fox┬" WILL be screened by me first and ┬"The White Fox┬" doesn┬'t talk about its past and before you waste your time in asking the question, Yes ┬"The White Fox┬" Did give Chuck Norris his one and only beat down back in Idaho 96! End of story!
