this one will be a small one, well hopefully....
Monday was the speed session in lusk, cant remember what we done but not doubt it was sprints!
Tuesday was rest day but as im away this week end i headed over to the NAC for a club swim because i will miss Fridays swim. it was all about drills tonight and boy did we do drills, 10 sets of 50m x left arm/right arm. 50m x leg kicks. 50m x arm thingys and 50m x flat out front crawl. then it was hold onto someones legs while they use their arms and you kick. good session but drills are boring as fook!
Wednesday i went swimming to do a bit of distance work, i was met in the pool by a few fingal club members, Gav, Paul McCormac and his mate that i cant think of his name! it was a good swim and i think i might have swam about 1500mtrs with the last 2x50mtrs at 50 seconds so i was well happy with that!
Wednesday evening we were going sea swimming before running and a good number turned out for the swim that is becoming part of the norm. as the tide was in there was no fields of rocks and not a sight of the seal that was trying to mate with us last week! so all was good.In Loughshinny there is a big loop you can swim, swim out to red bouy, around that and off to the other red one then the white ones then back to the beach! a good 20 minute ish swim, On the way back in Donal and Glenn were on the way out so we decided to swim back out to the 1st red one and back in! a good 30 minute swim before running. Running was a strange one, one loop of Loughshinny and into the soccer field for circuits x 5 times! its was a hard a session but not a hard session if ya get me! i think i was blessed that i done a double swim session before the run session!
Thursday I went for a sea swim with the club latest Ironman Wayne, He done Ironman South Africa about a month ago and knock about 3 hours of his last years Ironman time! cant go wrong with that! Myself, Jeremy, Rob, Wayne and Gerry were all flying the flag for Fingal and wayne had brought a few friends that are doing the Club triathlon for them to get used to sea swimming. we swam about 500 mtrs out and wayne wanted to bring the rest back so 4 of us swam an extra 100 or so mtrs and decide to to up the pace for heading back and try catch the other group. Jeremy was adamant that he was gonna stay on my feet and keep up!!! not a chance im thinking and away i went, i was feeling strong so away i pushed and a quick look back to see where they were and no where to be seen so my aim to to catch the other group and i caught them just before they got to the end so i was happy that i pushed myself. i always find that if i even touch seaweed or any other thing in the water i nearly shit myself but it gives me such a boost of speed its great !
Swim over and it was time to head home to pack my bag for the Stagamaina in Portugal on Friday morning!
Friday Drink loads, Friday evening drink loads
Saturday Fishing on a boat with LOTS of drink, Saturday Night Drink
Sunday morning Drink, Sunday afternoon Drink and Sunday evening flight home!!!!!
cracking weekend and its always good to go wild every now and then! but now its time to get back to hard training!
Stag weekend so not much training !!!!!! :-)
My Friend for the weekend!!!!
