The train drivers guide to Tri
Welcome to my world.I'm going through a mid life crisis and trying to be the best i can at triathlon with very limited ability! I work as aTrain Driver on the East Coast Main Line, and thought writing this blog would show people who work awful shifts can try and fit in a great sport and keep you fit! I've just been selected to be an ambassador for Xterra Wetsuits so expect plenty of pictures in their wetsuits!

Blog virgin!

Well im new to this so here goes! I got in to tri last year after competing in the Dambuster Duathlon, after that i joined Stamford Tri Club, i was encouraged to enter the fearfull world of blowing bubbles under water and tried my hardest to swim!
I eventually did my 1st Tri at woodhall Spa and did ok, then my aim was to do an Olympic race, i entered Tatton Park tri for the September, so loads of time to learn to sink in open water and mess about with an unflattering wetsuit!
During my training i got injured and could not run for months(i've only just started running now 8 months later)!! Anyhow i got lots of swimming in and cycling, i did do the Tatton park Tri even though i was injured and again did ok but had awful 10k as was in pain!
Since then i have had treatment on injury and my goal now is to work towards the Grantham Sprint Tri, nothing too big at this stage!
I am also going to be an ambassador for Xterra Wetsuits this season so need to get a few open water sessions in with pics of me in new wetsuit!
Please all buy a Xterra Wetsuit!!!!! (thats my selling bit done)!
I will do my best to update blog and hopefully get to grips with this blog writing in between training and driving trains...cheers.

Hope you have a great season, it's unlikely I'll be competing this year but I hope to be back for 2014. I look forward to hearing how you get on training around your shifts.
