Don't be afraid to fail .......

You must be insane was a comment made by a member of Celtic Tri after the month I had set myself, with 3 "B" events in a row it was not going to be easy, so with the Long Course Weekend, Ironman UK 70.3 and Cotswold 113 Middle Distance Triathlon the goal was to see what I need to change with my plan for Tenby in September.

So the Long Course Weekend based in Tenby is all three disciplines on three consecutive days. The Wales Swim on the Friday had to be shorten due the high winds and sea conditions. Actually enjoyed the swim, more than happy with the time (maybe some good news later in the year), but I must remember that is my strength. The following morning was the Wales Sportive, which is held over the same course as IM Wales. So managed to make the distance but there is a lot of work to do here as I may be too near the cutoff time. With this in mind I have already started on a plan B but to achieve this it will be into 2013 so lets not think about that yet. Just need to think positive and I am going to have a good day in Tenby.

So onto Ironman UK 70.3, the following weekend in Wimberball, Exmoor. Some say the World's Toughest Half Ironman and I think they be right. As for the swim once again I was happy with my time. As for the bike I had set myself a target and due to making the target it also meant I was out on the run. This is where it started to go wrong as my condition was not playing ball on the run, with the need to stop numerous time to message my feet every few miles which means that I could not get into a rhythm. It also meant that a few gremlins started to get into my head which I need to overcome in order to finish - which I did. So happy to finish and also have two course PB's for the swim and bike.

The next leg of "Hell Month" moved onto the Cotswold for the 113 Middle Distance Triathlon. So for me the challenge was back to back 70.3. This event has a reputation as good times as it is flat. So on a windy day, I manage to get distance PB's for swim. bike and overall time, so on the whole I must be happy, however once again the problems with my feet start early on in the run, which as I indicated before stop me from getting any sort of rhythm going.

So at the end of all this my goals for the months are going to be

1 - Introduce weights / resistance into training
2 - Find a Sports Physio (who understands my condition)
3 - Making my short runs longer

Before I go any further I must thank my family for the support, coaches and members of Celtic Tri Club and to Urban Cyclery for keeping me on the road.

So the next few weeks I have planned a few short Sportives, a sea swim and a short tri, so a quite month.

And finally in the words of another CMTer ~ "Dont be afraid to fail, be afraid to know deep down that you havent given your all"
