Love Run, Cardiff

DragonRunnerby DragonRunnerFeb 12th 2012
It is getting near the date that I need to start my Ironman Wales training program, and I am really no nearer in finding out what my health problem is. Over the last two weeks it has been a completely different mix of how my body feels.

Actually the last week, I have had a lot of discomfort in the legs and shoulders I decided to take a week out, not sure if this is a good idea or not. Still listen to my body cannot be a bad thing.

The main point of the last couple of weeks was my first event, The Love Run, Cardiff which was organised by the charity "Action Duchenne" which for who are not sure is a form of Muscular Dystrophy.

So I was taking part in the 10k, the morning in Cardiff was cold, in fact very cold - the race only had final go ahead a few hours before the start. The course is flat and goes around Bute Park, just outside the city center.

Running for me is hard, and today was not any different, the usual within minutes I was at the rear of the field, not that this bothers me now, as it is my challenge and for me that is what I care about.

Finished the run in 1 hour 19 minutes which even for me is slow (just a little bit), but I am fairly happy with where I am. One day I will find somewhere that can help but I think I need to wait and find out what is the problem first.

This waiting is affecting me a little as I am trying to self diagnose what the problem is which means I am looking at so many medical conditions. The affect is that I am trying to make a round peg fit into a square hole.

I think the best feeling I can have is no matter how slow I am I am still faster and fitter than all the couch potato out there and I am enjoying my life - even with the problems.

So onto my next event which is to be a half marathon in a few weeks in Llanelli.
