In the begining

Fursliderby FursliderJan 11th 2010
Well where to start... im in my early thirties and have spent most of life upto this point drunk and fat.

Just over a year ago i was blessed and me and my wife Claire had a little girl - Ellie Mae - the second i saw her i knew things had to change so i could be around to watch her grow and join in when she wanted to play without being out of breath and looking like a whale.

I started to go swimming during my lunch break and things started happening - not straight away but slowly the weight started to come down (3 stone to date) and i started feeling better all round.

During last summer a group of friends completed the c2c challenge which i tagged along with as support driver, i missed so much of the bannter being stuck in the car that when one of friends jokingly suggested to another - lets do the Cockermouth triathlon next year - i said (maybe slightly drunkenly) that i would do it.

That was just over six months ago and im not in full 'training' mode. a close friend of mine agreed to do this with me and both of us a at the gym most nights of the week and we are improving ever so surely. There is still a long long way to go but the motivation is still there and the times are coming down.

So keep posted over the next 5 months to see how we get on, if i make it to the start line and even better if i can cross the finish line. Whatever the outcome i know Ellie will be proud ive had ago and made the change from fat slob to aspring triathlete

Catch you again
