Sports Cardiology UK
Ok, so now for some shameless advertising - In my day job I am an NHS cardiologist working with children and adults with congenital heart disease. I have a particular interest in abnormal heart rhythms. In this work I would sometimes see athletes with heart problems. Usually they had seen a large number of other medics whose uniform response had been to tell them to stop exercising. As an endurance athlete myself ( OK - this is perhaps stretching the definition of an athlete - as someone with a major exercise habit unaccompanied by significant talent) I understood the frustration that these people felt and was also aware that this advice is not always correct. I have also been involved with quite a lot of research looking at the effect of exercise on ther heart and it is pretty clear that exercise is generally a "very good thing" for the heart and many other organ systems - although advice sometimes has to be specifically taylored for individual patients.

Thus Sports Cardiology UK was born... a company set up to deal with athletes with cardiac issues. Have a look at our website...www.sportscardiology.co.uk
