Story of training for ironman regensberg 2010 in an athlete hampered by injury, middle age and serious lack of natural talent

The start

GrahamSby GrahamSJan 11th 2010
This is a blog of my attempts to achieve survival and a vaguely respectable time at ironman regensberg in Aug 2010. Hampered by lack of natural talent, frequent injury, advanced years ( 50 this year) but aided by the skilled assistance of Nadia Saba as coach. This is also an attempt for me to learn a bit more about the training process as part of an MSC in Sports and Exercise Medcine. In the past I have completed lots of 1/2 marathons, 7 marathons and a few mountain marathons ( including KIMM long course twie). I also completed the 2008 Elbaman long distance triathlon in the spectacularly slow time of 15 1/2 hours.

This year I will also be cycling John o'Gorats to Lands End with my ever patient wife, Maggie.

In real life I am an NHS Cardiologist and run a Sports cardiology company - Sports cardiology UK ( have a look at our website sports cardiology.co.uk)
