Going long distance, has no boundaries whatsoever. The limits of how far a human being can go as opposed to how fast haven“t even been glimpsed! -Kirk Johnson

1st Race down! Achilles is all good!

First race of the year come and gone! I had a fantastic Miami Marathon this past Jan 31st. Aside from the fact I got a throat infection and a bad cold in Miami. Not used to the air conditioning any more! I was able to run and had a blast. An amazing race, well organized. 20,000 runners it was a blast!

I have previously expressed my intentions on trying ultra running and working my way towards that goal. I signed up for the 4:15 pace group, but I couldnĀ“t handle it! So I stayed behind. As I was running all of a sudden I heard a woman chating and chating as if she were walking! It was the 4:30 pacer! I glued myself to the group and heard her conversation. The woman was a Badwater Ultra runner! No wonder! She was amazing!

I also took the opportunity to have my Achilles checked MRI which I truly hate! My doc says all is good! It is another tendon that is a bit tender but with a good anti inflamatory and a good pair of shoes it should go away. I have been married to Saucony shoes for the last 20 years! I still love them but I decided to try something new and I had the chance to try on the new Brooks! Wow amazing feeling from get go. I opted for the Asics Cumulus though which felt amazing too! CanĀ“t tell what is out there unless I try it right? Well see how Asics works for me! New race is five weeks away a 50km run! First time trying an ultra run! Happy Trainning!
