Double Brutal Booked........Yikes!
by IronjediMar 20th 2013
The Grizz is only a distant memory now. I can't believe it was just over a week ago that we were running along the Jurassic Coast. I seem to have managed to squeeze lots of training in. This off the back of the Grizzly and I am still feeling good. I have even managed to fight off a cold from the swimming pool which is unusual for me. Normally I only have to smell chlorine and my nose begins to run. I am taking this as a good sign.
With the cold weather having almost passed, I can begin to start cycling regularly outside as opposed to grinding my poor tri-bike, (a faithful Quintana Roo Caliente bought from TriUK back in 2008), on the turbo trainer. Not that I plan to ride it at the Brutal. I have opted for my road bike, mostly due to the eight lap course with a climb up through Pen-Y-Pass on each lap. This is a 4.5 mile climb with some challenging ascents.
Some people may ask why? Firstly I turn 40 this year and this seemed quite an interesting Mid Life crisis, much cheaper than buying a new sports car and secondly I am raising money for Macmillan over the course of the year for the events I have entered.
All is going well so far. I am being supported by my family and friends. People have volunteered to train with me, race with me (although I only have one taker interested in the Brutal at present). I have volunteers to be part of my race support crew, friends sorting out and sourcing kit, supporters coming up to cheer me on and an understanding wife who is very patient and extremely understanding. She is even doing the RideLondon100 with me. Although she is raising money for a different Charity. Details of our two charities are below.
So I continue on towards the Outlaw Triathlon on 7th July 2013. Thanks to everyone for the support.
