Aikido, ~22 mile run, runner's high

MarkChaoby MarkChaoMar 4th 2012
Awesome day starting with nice light aikido practice reviewing basic techniques since there's intro for adult beginners which I'm completely fine with as I need to work on everything! After lasgna for lunch and about 90min I was inspired by Scott Jurek's prerun ritual of screaming like a madman and thus before my 22+mile run I decided to do the same. With a full camelbak and 3 gels I had pretty good run despite stupid lady blowing smoke when I ran past around mile 5 and a goose that was on trail and hissed at me and kept pace up to mile 15-16. But since I didn't really use my hips before when as just as physiologist said my hips were on fire then. Walked/ran the last 6 miles and after reaching home physically tired but nutrition and mentally fine took shower. That's when runner's high hit me, I just started laughing like a madman after the shower while I stretched. I felt so good I jumped around my apartment bit before putting on compression and heading to dinner. Amazing feeling! Now I know why some runners go for ultra distance!
