My First Ironman
I decided to do the 2013 Ironman Louisville as my first long course race. This blog serves as my diary to capture training highlights and struggles along the way. Race day is 25 Aug 13.

Based on my experience at the half-iron distance and borrowing liberally from Don Fink's "Be Iron Fit", I have developed a 30 week training program to get me to Louisville.

Week 22 - 24 Jun

Mon - rest day
Tues - 2500 yd swim; 4 mi run
Wed - 60 spin spin
Thurs - 2500 yd swim, 4 mi run
Fri - 60 min spin (WX)
Sat - 81 mi bike; 2 mi run; strong winds on bike, minor ITB irritation
Sun - 18.44 mi run; strong run, minor ITB irritation

Working to mitigate ITB pain. Shortened my running stride, eased wall push off during swim, and regularly rolling ITB. Seems to be working. Will also get minor break in mid-Jul with trip to FL and limited runs and rides. So tired on Wed that I slept in and cycled in the evening.
