My First Ironman
I decided to do the 2013 Ironman Louisville as my first long course race. This blog serves as my diary to capture training highlights and struggles along the way. Race day is 25 Aug 13.

Based on my experience at the half-iron distance and borrowing liberally from Don Fink's "Be Iron Fit", I have developed a 30 week training program to get me to Louisville.

Week 23 - 1 Jul

Mon - rest day, definitely need this rest
Tues - 2500 yd swim; 4 mi run on treadmill due to rain
Wed - 60 min spin (slept in, rode after work)
Thurs - 25 mi bike, 7 mile run (Oly brick)
Fri - 3700 yd swim
Sat - 85 mi bike, 2 mi run - great day to ride
Sun - 16 mi run; intended to do 19 but bonked at 16; 87 degrees F and burning sun took its toll; will adjust route to allow more hydration next week

Need to add extra day of running to help my long runs. Will try to add 6 mi run on Fridays.
