My First Ironman
I decided to do the 2013 Ironman Louisville as my first long course race. This blog serves as my diary to capture training highlights and struggles along the way. Race day is 25 Aug 13.

Based on my experience at the half-iron distance and borrowing liberally from Don Fink's "Be Iron Fit", I have developed a 30 week training program to get me to Louisville.

Week 26 - 23 Jul

Mon - Tues - no exercise during the family vacation; 6 days off. Not sure how it will impact by overall fitness but I feel mentally refreshed and ready to take on the last month of training

Wed - 2500 yd swim; 6 mi run - both a little slow but great to be training again
Thurs - 40 mi ride; 6 mi run - slow to start on the bike but hit a groove around 30 mi; very strong run ~7:11 pace
Fri - 4000 yd swim
Sat - 20 mi run
Sun - 91 mi bike

Great return to training. Hard weekend of training has me confident in my fitness for the Ironman in 4 weeks. Ready to push hard these last three weeks and then taper. Family is ready for training to be done...I agree.
