Ironman UK 2012 Run Photos

Oziemby OziemJul 23rd 2012
After the leaders passed us out on the 112 mile bike course for their 3rd lap we headed back into the centre of Bolton to watch the marathon.

The centre of Bolton was covered in Ironman banners, especially the finishing area in front of the town hall.

Fraser Cartmell was leading the race when he passed us near the first lap turn around point. But when we saw him again he was visibly struggling on the second lap. In the end he finished second with a time of 09:07:00 over 10 minutes behind Daniel Halksworth (below).

There was not much interest in the centre for the first hour or so of the run, as you can see in the photos there was only photographers and a few spectators. Daniel Halksworth ended with a 03:03:20 marathon split, and was looking very smooth.

Amanda Stevens was still in first place after the first, and possibly second, lap of the run (it was getting busy at that point and it was hard to keep track of who was where).

Another 2 GB athletes finished in the top 5, Paul Hawkins (3rd) and Sam Baxter (5th). Go GB ;)

Eimear Mullan ran down Amanda Stevens and finished the marathon in a 03:18:32 which was over 20 minutes faster than Amanda.

TriBlogs & Me
TriBlogs has been my pet project since 2005. It all started as a way for me to track my own training and I ended up sharing with my friends... the rest is history.

I write the code, test the code, debug the code, sing the theme tune... Sarah has joined the team now and she bosses me around on your behalf. If you use the site regularly and love it please help us continue by subscribing or by getting all your friends to visit the site!

On my blog you'll find my experiences attempting to be an athlete of some sort and my photo blogs of races that we visit for inspiration.
