Mat Newman maintained his 100% record this season with a win at the Newport Duathlon, Mats race report follows;

Race conditions were good, the Sun was out if a little cold first thing. The first part of the run was pretty quick - usual duathlon protocol. ItĀ's a hilly run so manage to drop a few before coming into T1 with just two others. A quick transition meant I was out first on the bike managed to put 30-40 seconds in on the chasing guys before entering T2. Held and extended the gap over the final run coming in around a minute ahead.

All in all a good day. A small field but with some good competition usually turning up. IĀ'd recommend this event if you want a short sharp blast for an early gauge of how winters training gone and to clear out the transition cobwebs.
BAD Tri has sponsored teams for both triathlon and cycling. The aim of these teams is to provide support for athletes within the club at high-performance age-group level and above. As a club we are grateful to those who represent us at this level and understand that it takes a great deal of time, money and dedication. In return for this support, triathletes are expected to represent the team and perform well at the races throughout the summer. Cyclists will be expected to race regularly and place well at local road races and/or support others in the team to do so.
