Getting back to it! (Part 2!)

It's nearly a year on from my last post on getting back to triathlon.
With moving, work and other commitments I got well out of regular training and exercise. It is a shame, but I'm not the kind of person to regret. It is an opportunity to learn and I am going to get back to where I was, and beyond.
Life has settled down somewhat since last year. I am now living in one location again rather than flitting between several places. I have my bike back up and running and I have Blackpool Aquatics swimming club to go to, which also has a multisport angle to it.
Compared to where I was when I was last competing, I have gained 20kgs, and several percentage points of body fat! I must say though, I feel like I look a lot healthier carrying a bit more weight, so I am aiming to maintain some of the weight, whilst cutting back on some of the fat. I am concentrating on keeping my high quality carb and protein intake high, but cut down on the saturated fats (I have got a great taste for hotel breakfasts!).
The next 8 weeks I am going to be breaking myself (S L O W L Y) back into running, and hopefully will avoid past issues with tight muscles. Part of this will be to develop a stretching routine for before and after exercise, and maintain my core strength workout I have been doing with varying regularity over the past year. I will include some regular Yoga sessions in my plan too.
On top of the running, when I am home I am going to attend the masters sessions with Blackpool Aquatics, cycling to the sessions where possible and a long ride during the weekend.
I feel like a politician writing a manifesto! Hopefully I can stick to it, I am going to try to be challenging, but realistic. To add to the motivation, I have made an investment in a new bit of kit - a Garmin 305 HRM with cadence and speed sensor for the bike, and re-using my old foot pod for indoor training.
I am not going to rush, I am taking the next few weeks to decide on some SMART goals to work towards. Stay tuned for updates...
