So, I am a swimmer turned triathlete!

Swimming is obviously ok, biking not too bad but needs some strength work, running is my kryptonite!

Broken man!

I am a broken man this morning!

Last nights main swim set was a threshold set (16x50, 8x100, 4x200), which felt OK. I was tired but nothing unusual about that. I had a good cycle home, albeit into the wind.

This morning was a different story....

Cycled from home down to Bristol Uni (about 16 miles), got in the pool and felt a little tight, again nothing unusual and it eased off through the warm up. The main set was again a threshold set with some fast work followed by the threshold pace work. I got 2/3 of the way through and my arms stopped working, but finished the set missing only 50m from a 200m.

Biking home was damn hard. It was again into the wind and to my place seems to have a disproportionate amount of uphill in that direction. I bonked quite spectacularly and could hardly stand when I got off my bike at Tesco (grabbing some milk). Decided to go for some hard core recovery juice (Strawberry Yazoo! - Chocolate very nice too...) to have when I got home and guzzled down a Gel and some water and battled on.

So, lessons to learn:

- eat something carb rich the night before to refuel after Monday swimming.
- eat a better breakfast, starting to think bowl of Crunchie Nut Cornflakes do not quite have the energy content.
- restock on Isotonic energy drink, have run out over the weekend.

Feel much better now though a couple of hours down the line, good job Wednesday is my easy/rest day. Considering cycling to scouts tomorrow but that is only 5 miles each way and will take it easy.

Ah yes, replaced my tyres - they got really nicked and gashed in Spain for some reason and one seemed to be defective anyway. New tyres have very low rolling resistance compared to the old but are a little skittish in the corners. I think they may just grip better than the old ones which would slide - just something to get used to.
