So, I am a swimmer turned triathlete!

Swimming is obviously ok, biking not too bad but needs some strength work, running is my kryptonite!

Post of the Week

Maximal HR test was postponed from last week so is going to be tonight or Thursday.

Now then, following my interesting week last week including falling down the stairs, I had my mamouth weekend of events.

The Sun Run, a scout event, was on Saturday night. Starting at 7pm, it is a walk that is supposed to be 26 miles (I am not sure of this claim I think it may be slightly shorter), you walk through the night on a set route until you finish back where you start. I was part of a team of four 3 guys and a gal. We walked round in just under 7.5 hours, which was over half an hour under our target. Although my legs were tired and hurting, I felt like I had plenty of energy and we ran the last couple of hundred metres to finish.

I made sure I was straight to bed after the Sun Run I was to be up super early to get to the VOTwo first long swim at South Cerney. I was pleased to see a few BADTri members (well done to all by the way!), and so had someone to chat to before the event.

I found the hardest thing was to stuff down some breakfast before the race, but managed some fruit and a chunk of maltloaf and a drink of lucozade.

I went round in 52:54 for the 3.8km, and placed 16th of 196 finishers, 6th in category. Not bad having walked (nearly!) a marathon distance and had 3 hours sleep! Target time was under 1 hour as never raced in open water before. The weed situation in the shallow lake was interesting - some people claiming they were crawling over it at times!

I am not decided on whether I am going to do the swim at Bournemouth as I am not sure where I am going to be living then and will have done minimal training from travelling to Mongolia and China for a few weeks. On that front, I am going to take a skipping rope and get some exercise in at altitude, we are camping at and above 1500m. Running is out of the question, at least on my own, because of the local wolf population.....

Right, on with some work.
