So, I am a swimmer turned triathlete!

Swimming is obviously ok, biking not too bad but needs some strength work, running is my kryptonite!

Post of the Week

I would currently love to be posting a great little report here about how I nailed Blenheim, but alas it is not to be. I stood by the car with my kit and considered what I will be taking with me. I did not forget to take my bike to transition, but did decide not to take a spare tube and pump (I need a smaller pump to take with me, current one is not exactly compact which was the main driver to leave the pump behind).

I was second out the water in my wave, followed another geezer so he could do all the sighting work! The run up to transition was OK, took it steady. A fairly neat transition, and I was on the bike. The first lap was great, I was passing loads of people and the hills were like wrinkles in the road. The start of the second lap wasn't bad too, but then about a 1/3 in I hear some hissing. DISASTER! I have a puncture.

I limped around the rest of the lap, the punture was quite slow so wasn't too bad for carrying on. The last bit of the lap was bone crunching - but was quicker than getting off and pushing. I did consider carrying on the last lap on the rim, but thought almost instantly that it would be silliness to do so!

I took the executive decision to cut the bike short and carry on with the run. The idea being I could gauge my run performance improvements and do a bit of extrapolation to work out a more accurate target time for my next Tri, and put the whole thing down to experience.

On a training front, took it easy. Did a short run with a work colleague one evening and made sure I kept up with my stretching every other evening.

Anyhoo, to some work!
