Just a nice sometimes not consistently updated view of my running cycling and (fingers crossed) swimming

Forest of Dean Spring Classic
I woke up yesterday morning at around 6:30 to the dulcet sounds of rain against the window, that was not how i'd imagined the weather to be for this sportive a few days ago in the sunshine of bristol. i have to admit there was one point at about 7am when i had a genuine thought that i'd much prefer a warm sunday in than 85 miles of wind, rain and hills. never-the-less i headed off up the first of 14 rather sizeable "climbs".

It was hard, not going to lie about that, not helped by a distinct lack of feeling in my right foot that only just returned at around 6:30 pm. i completed it in 6 hours which taking into account the length and gradient of most of the hills i was quite pleased with. gives me a bit of confidence for the ironman ride too as i know full well that it won't be as hard as today and today i really felt that i could've changed shoes and set off for a substantial jog.

in the end it was an 88 mile ride (not zure where the 3 extra ones came from) and thoroughly enjoyed it all, no more than 5 minutes of sun all day but the rain had stopped about 1.5 hours into the ride, it was my first specific bike race and definitely not my last.

got the gradient of the ride if you fancy a look at the "undulating" course.

happy training.
