2 days no training in row...most unusual...

edwarmaby edwarmaOct 16th 2009
Always an odd adjustment, this 'no training' thing! All triathletes know than even having one rest day is a bit hard on the old nerves - having two is like heresy!

But well worth it. Nice long sleeps, no booze, healthy food a little tootle to work and back on the bike is just what is needed for a few days.

Seems various people are having the post-race blues at this time of year...emotional instability caused by physical tiredness? Lack of stimulation and challenge at the end of the season? Bit of both?

Some treatments for this....

1 - enter an event or two, dafter the better, preferably involving mud and cake in equal quantities
2 - do some kit buying. Current competition is to find and purchase completely unnecessary but cool triathlon kit for under a tenner - spoke klacker things and helmet rear-view mirrors already making an appearance...
3 - go to a training session or two but just laze about at the back and say things like "yeah I'm in active recovery" and go home early. Will be good for your body and everyone will think you're taking it all terribly seriously :-)
4 - come Blair Witch running!
5 - spend more quality time with normal people!

Have a great weekend
