First day of the official off-season!

edwarmaby edwarmaOct 11th 2009
One week and two extremely late nights on from the season's A-race, and it's time for full-on active recovery, training avoidance, and eating as much as I like whenever I want!

Something of a disappointing DNF in the Barcelona ironman-distance race, caused mainly by the heat, but there's no such thing as a bad result, just a learning opportunity...didn't feel like much of a "learning oppportunity" at the time however!

Coming back to lovely autumnal weather has been a bonus, and a traditional british bike ride with my good buddy Toby yesterday, cake and tea included, was the perfect antidote to all that heart-rate monitored, pointy helmet wearing, aid-station gel-munching extravaganza that is long distance triathlon.

The next few weeks will be spent taking it easy in the main, and trying not to think too much about plans for next year. Cardiff half marathon (dragging my brother round - sorry Pete!), Ashton Court duathlon, Jimmy Carr at the Colston Hall, and starting a new job in the next 3 weeks should keep me occupied hopefully...along with Tuesday night Blair Witch runs, coaching club sessions and gaining some more clients to help plan their 2010 triathlon season.
