Well, I survived!

I lied about the air temperature - It wasn't 6șC it was 4șC and according to the weather station in our garden the wind has been at around 40-50 knots all day so far. needless to say it was wild out there. The winds were blowing offshore though so the sea was fairly calm and we had a nice swim. About 15 people turned up as well which surprised me, but most only stayed in for about 15 minutes. I braved it out for a little over half an hour.

The run afterwards was horrendous though. Running into the wind was almost impossible. The first 5 hill reps were pretty difficult as I was still trying to warm back up ater the swim. My teeth were still chattering on the first one, despite wearing a bigger coat than I've ever worn whilst running and doing a 15 minute warm up.

I got into it by the 5th rep though and completed all 10 so I'm happy with that. Home made courgette soup for lunch and now its time to laze in front of the fire all afternoon - I was going to go windsurfing, but I think I'll give it a miss as I need to warm up first.

Crikey, and I thought I'd done well battling through the rain to the local swimming pool!

Haha - It was probably windier here than it was in Bristol as well... The reason we moved here from Bristol was for the wind. As a windsurfer it was the windiest place I could find so I built a house on the beach. It's not quite so good for triathlon training though (or gardening for that matter!).

I'm glad I wasn't out on the bike today as it was pretty wild. The Harlech Triathlon just up the road was cancelled halfway through due to the weather.
