Maintaining the life-training balance
This blog hopes to focus on the "life" side of the training-life balance that anyone training for triathlon will know can be difficult to juggle. No one really cares what interval set I ran today and how high my heart rate got so I won't try and impress anyone with those stats. Stats make the world go round though so for those who are interested I will have Garmin data available for each training session, most stats i throw around on a saturday night are made up, sadly thats not an option with the garmin so you can be assured at least that aspect of this blog will be honest.
NoRestDays Day 3 - Who runs the world? Girls by malcolmcleland Oct 3rd 2012Guys love to talk the talk, few love to walk the walk. Today I asked Cam, who signed me up for this No Rest Days challenge, if he wanted to go for a ride after work. At 10am his response was "Yea mate keen as", by 4pm that had become "Na I think I'll give it a miss, might wash my bike tonight" and so he bailed on the ride and left me to go solo. Now I may have miss read the situation but I took his comment to mean "Na I can't tonight, girlfriend won't let me" which reminded me of the song Girls who run the world by Beyonce which you can watch below if you need to kill some time at work.
When riding by yourself having a song stuck in your head is a pretty common occurrence, thanks to Cam I was left with Girls who run the world on repeat inside my head for the entire ride. For tonight's ride I jumped on the TT bike and bashed into the headwind out towards the Haywards time trial course for a couple of laps before cruising back home to total 60km in about 1hr 50min. All in all a pretty good ride, shame I only knew one line of the entire song... who runs the world?
