Michael's journey to become half ironman

Watford 10K (Part 2)

michaelpgallucciby michaelpgallucciJul 7th 2013
It is race day and I have my race number, my pins and an old t-shirt and football shorts on. This is the day that my training must come together to survive a 10km run. I do not see my brother on the start line, but know he is around as run past his girlfriend and daughter on my speedy run down the hill in cassiobury park. I get into a steady pace and continue to grind it out, down hills, up hills, through the woods, over the canal and up the steady climb to the finish. I run past my wife, friends and my dog all cheering me on as I sprint for the finish. I cross the line, jubilant and just a little knackered! My brother crosses the finish line 8 seconds behind me, so a double celebration.I finished, and crossed the line first. My first race is over and I have got the buzz!

PS: He did beat me on the chip time by 16 seconds!
