O.rangeCannon's pirate journey!!!!!!!
O.rangeCannon's pirate journey!!!!!!!

So I'm now a pirate, (ie normal people who are inspired by the runners world forumites doing IMs)..... This involves drinking beer, buying lots of yellow kit, oh, and a race or 2 a year to give it an objective.

I bumped into the pirates via the runners world magazine / forum, and they gave me the confidence to dare enter an IM.

Bastards!

History
2010 IMDE - flat, Outlaw - flat
2011 IM Regensburg 2011 - flat, IMWales - hilly, oh so windy
2012 Lanza - hilly and windy
2013 - IM Lanza - the return :-)

Recovering from knee issues, (too many rugby injuries) so now the plan is to swim OK, be an Uber Biker, and just let the run take care of itself. Oh Well

Chiltern 100

The Build continues.....My first ever sportive!

107 miles of consistent ups and downs over the chilterns, ie up and down dunstable downs, wendover, princes risborough and everything they could find in the middle.

I really enjoyed this, especially being able to jump from group to group. (all the faster riders were obvioulsy way ahead of me...) I would go to the front of a chain gang and just ride off the front..... oops!

Only got 1 puncture, which took me an age to repair.

Came in 6:34, which I was happy with considering the hills and puncture. Met a guy on the ride who did IMDE last year and he was faster on IMDE by an hour than his chiltern result.

Overall I did go a little hard though, so need to moderate my effort a bit. Average HR was 142, where I am aiming for 129 - 135 for IMDE.
