O.rangeCannon's pirate journey!!!!!!!
O.rangeCannon's pirate journey!!!!!!!

So I'm now a pirate, (ie normal people who are inspired by the runners world forumites doing IMs)..... This involves drinking beer, buying lots of yellow kit, oh, and a race or 2 a year to give it an objective.

I bumped into the pirates via the runners world magazine / forum, and they gave me the confidence to dare enter an IM.

Bastards!

History
2010 IMDE - flat, Outlaw - flat
2011 IM Regensburg 2011 - flat, IMWales - hilly, oh so windy
2012 Lanza - hilly and windy
2013 - IM Lanza - the return :-)

Recovering from knee issues, (too many rugby injuries) so now the plan is to swim OK, be an Uber Biker, and just let the run take care of itself. Oh Well

Outlaw Prep

hmmmm.....

So the plan was:-
    IMDE
  • 2 weeks recovery
  • 2 weeks hard training
  • 1 week taper
  • OUTLAW...
    Reality:-
  • IMDE
  • 2 weeks recovery
  • 2 weeks easy training, bike commutes, lots of 90-120 min runs, only 1 3 hr bike and just a few swims.
  • 1 week taper
  • OUTLAW...

so the 2 weeks hard training did not really happen. This was because the weekend got lost - nice to kick back and take it easy, some family stuff and also just plain CBA.

Oh well, onwards and upwards

SO the Target for the outlaw

1. Get around - should be fine really - only worry is the crap roads.
2. 11:30 - That is a realistic target assuming the same fitness as per IMDE, (with wet suite swim, slightly shorter bike, and some experience)
3. 11:00 - hmm plan is to take 10 mins off the swim, 4 off T1, 10 off the bike and 10 off the run from IMDE. ie come in at 11:02...... I think this may be totally optomistic so lets see what happens...

I will be upping my HR targets on the bike by 5 BPM, so lets see what happens
However if it all goes wrong, then I'll back of and just enjoy the prate craic, (as there are 40 of us there + a bike feed station of supporters
