So I'm now a pirate, (ie normal people who are inspired by the runners world forumites doing IMs)..... This involves drinking beer, buying lots of yellow kit, oh, and a race or 2 a year to give it an objective.

I bumped into the pirates via the runners world magazine / forum, and they gave me the confidence to dare enter an IM.


2010 IMDE - flat, Outlaw - flat
2011 IM Regensburg 2011 - flat, IMWales - hilly, oh so windy
2012 Lanza - hilly and windy
2013 - IM Lanza - the return :-)

Recovering from knee issues, (too many rugby injuries) so now the plan is to swim OK, be an Uber Biker, and just let the run take care of itself. Oh Well

This is an overview of my annual plan.
19th oct Prep 1 4 weeks
Prep 2 4 weeks
Prep 3 4 weeks long prep period but I have loads of time
11th Jan Base 1 4 weeks
8th Feb Base 1 repeat 4 weeks again¬... errrr. You can't have too big a base....
8th March Base 2 4 weeks This is where I am up to!
5th April Base 3 4 weeks
3rd May Build 2 weeks Hard training period.
includes a weeks holiday in turkey, (MTBing, running and sea swimming along with windsurfing and sea kayaking! Essentially a self run training camp
Taper for 1/2 IM 1 week Swashbuckler ¬Ĺ IM (23rd May)
Recovery 1 week
Build 2 weeks Race simulation stuff....Big day training..??
Windsor Olympic with the missus
14th June Peak / Taper 2 weeks reduce volumes/intensity... maintain frequency
race week !!! IMDE ¬- 4th July
recovery 4 weeks
race week Outlaw - 8th August

I am mad for signing up for this one....!
