Work interrupts play...
I just learned that I need to be in California next Thursday and Friday, when I was supposed to be racing the February Chilly Duathlon on Sunday. Gonna be interesting...

Hopefully I can get a flight home on Friday night, land at Heathrow Saturday afternoon and somehow rest up sufficiently to put in a reasonable performance on Sunday. And I suppose at least I won't need to worry about tapering!

And just in case anyone thinks I should shut up and stop complaining and enjoy my 'glamorous' lifestyle... Believe me there is nothing vaguely glamorous about flying 'back of the bus' for 11.5 hours on a Wednesday, all-day meetings in a strange time zone on Thursday and Friday, and then another cattle-class ride home on the Friday night! (Although I confess the gym near our office is amazing).

Oh well, at least now I have an excuse for the poor run times on Sunday!

On a more positive note, had a great swim session last night in Bristol, felt really strong (the back workouts are definitely paying off) and could have gone much faster (if it wasn't for the slowcoaches in the 'fast' lane!). Sometimes it can be nice to take a 2-3 week break from one of the Tri disciplines; in a way it makes it easier to gauge the progress you're making.
