Bradley Wiggins plus other Sporting heroes...Who inspires you?

Bradley Wiggins what a super impressive ride that was in the Tour de France TT yesterday. Had me on the edge of my seat. This got me thinking about inspirational people in sport?

I can clearly remember being totally enthralled by Daley Thompson's achievements in 1984. I was very young at the time, but I still recall watching the TV with my family in Sheffield. Daley ThompsonĀ's win will always stand out for me, his huge grin and enthusiasm in the TV interviews "I've got the big G boys, the big G!" Thanks Daley Thompson you were my hero!

In the news today there was another sporting legend, Roger Bannister. He carried the Olympic torch on the very track that he made athletic history. I wasn't alive at the time, but IĀ'm certainly impressed by the belief and determination of anyone who can achieve what is thought to be unachievable.

Another sporting moment for which I was alive and was present for was in 1993. I was lucky enough to be in Don Valley Stadium when Jan Zelezney threw his World Record Javelin throw and infamously nearly hit the TV commentators. Although he then went on to beat this record, I was told that my own school javelin record still stood years after I'd left (granted the competition may not have been quiet at fierce).

No doubt in the next few weeks we will all be witness to more sporting achievements for us to be inspired by and I for one can't wait.

Wiggins just because of the sideburns. I heard that's where he gets his cycling powers from.

I am in fact becoming more of a Froome fan.
All hail the Froominator.

I like the way the British media keep calling Froome British. According to his wiki page:

"Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Froome moved with his family to South Africa as a teenager."
