Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Having taken part in several pool based sprint events since starting out in 2009, I wanted to celebrate turning 35 by completing the Vitruvian in 2011...with a long term goal of completing an Ironman by the time I'm 40. I'll keep track of the trials and tribulations here.

2013 - the year that wasn't...

So as the year draws to a close it's customary to look back on the last 12 months and review where we are in comparison to where we started the year. And the conclusion ? Nothing changes. My weight has been up and down like a yoyo, work has had me eating my way around the world (and I can't say that I don't enjoy that bit of the job) and despite having moments when I have been full of good intentions - and a little physical exertion while running on holiday - the year has been another one with very little activity.

After this afternoon I am lucky enough to have almost 2 weeks off work, and hope to make the most of being at home in the daylight hours to get out for a run or two in the hope that I can kickstart my return to "competition" (or rather completion) in 2014. August 30th seems a long way away at the moment but you can guarantee that it will arrive before I know it and I've got to arrive at Rutland Water in better condition than I did last time.

First things first - cutting out the junk and losing some weight, and maybe some hypnotherapy to curb my appetite. Or maybe I just need to wire my jaw shut !

I hope everyone has a great Christmas and a happy new year.
