Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Having taken part in several pool based sprint events since starting out in 2009, I wanted to celebrate turning 35 by completing the Vitruvian in 2011...with a long term goal of completing an Ironman by the time I'm 40. I'll keep track of the trials and tribulations here.

2019, year of the comeback ?

It’s been a while since I logged in here so I’m not quite sure whether there is still much of an audience for a blog post, but as I’ve not mentioned it to many people I thought I would get it off my chest here: I’ve signed up for three triathlons this year !!!

My last event was 2011’s Vitruvian where I finished not quite last in a time of 7h 44m. Eight years on and I’m older (obviously) and I seem to think significantly heavier (almost 120kg) but my partner is a qualified PT and isn’t going to let me get away without doing any training ! She’s constantly reminding me that I’m older than I was and “in that heart attack bracket” which is a comforting thought.

So the events...May’s Eton Sprint, June’s Windsor Olympic and finally the Vitruvian where I’m determined to go quicker.

How will I get on ? We will have to see, but I need to lose some timber in order to fit into my wetsuit for when the local lakes open in mid April as I need to do more OW swimming this time around.
