What motivates the “motivator”?
by teamthinkstrong Jan 17th 2010
To all of my friends, family members, coworkers and clients I am know as the motivator, the cheerleader, the one to give you a pat on the back after job well done, the one to challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and trust your abilities. This is something I have always done however just recently realized what importance this role plays in my own life.
We hear about success a lot, but I always struggled with defining the meaning of this word in my life journey. Everyone sees success differently, for some it is measured in money, for some in powerful carrier.
Well for me success means something little different.
I see my self successful when I can influence people’s thoughts and actions in such way that they grow as individuals, make better choices for themselves and find happiness in their lives. This definition of success applies to any aspect of my life. As a mother, a daughter, a wife, a friend, an athlete and a coach, knowing how much can encouraging words, a hug, a smile or a simple gesture like “thumbs up” mean to people around me really opened my eyes to who I want to be.
So going back to being the motivator, I don’t think many of the people that allow me be part of their lives realize that by letting me support and encourage them they make me successful! Seeing people getting out of their comfort zone and going for it (whatever IT is) is the biggest motivation I will ever have. It doesn’t matter if you are training for Ironman or 5k race, if you are starting a new business or you are going back to school.
There is nothing better then hearing people say “wow I didn’t know I could do that”! Well I did! ;o)

Living to learn
Living to learn
by teamthinkstrong Jan 4th 2010
Another year has passed and for the past few years for me this has become a time to reflect and evaluate my life. I have always been very goal oriented, with the need to see the results of my work. If it would be in school, work or training for my Triathlons, setting a goal and reaching it gave me great sense of satisfaction. However this past year I realized that my interest is shifting more towards the process rather than the end result and that I was getting as much satisfaction out of the “getting there” itself as I did from achieving the goals. Going back to my 1st Marathon experience it was such a great feeling to cross the finish line but the experience during the race itself was what captured my attention. I still go back to my “mile 22” whenever I need to encourage and inspire myself. This was the mile where I chose to not to give up and an amazing learning and empowering moment happened. These kind of moments are all around us, in every race you do there are little lessons that might stay with you forever. However you need to be open to the idea that these moments can happen anytime or anywhere and be ready to pay attention when they come.
In the year 2010 I hope to have many more of these learning moments where things might be really good or they might not be as great. Either way it’s a learning experience and it has it’s value no matter if it’s good or bad. What’s important is what you take out of it and how you process the information you are giving. What I want to pay attention to is the experience itself! I am living to learn!
