Aiming to play my cards right in Las Vagas

Getting back into it

triathlonhelenby triathlonhelenJan 7th 2012
After the 2011 triathlon season finished, I found it pretty hard to keep my motivation for training up. Thankfully I am finally managing to get myself back into consistent training and suddenly next years races are approaching quickly.

After surprising myself with several good races last year, I'm starting to wonder how much more I could improve. Last year I know the key to my success was consistency in training, so I'm hoping that doing the work in training now will stand me in good stead.

A new year, and new training program seem a good reason to set myself some goals . . . so after a bit of thinking, I've set myself the following targets:

1) To complete a half ironman distance race in under 5 hours in 2012

2) To finish within the top half of my agegroup at the Las Vagas 70.3 World Championships in September 2012

I know that there's still plenty of room for improvement in my running and cycling, so hopefully working on these areas over the winter will make me quicker. After being outsprinted for the last podium spot in my agegroup at Mallorca 70.3, I know every second counts!

I'll keep you posted . . . .

How's it going Helen did you decide on which 1/2 Ironman you were going to do?
