Holly's Tri mis-adventures
I'm a previously unsporty 20 something that has been trying very hard at tri for the last 6 years with minimal success! I love the sport to the extent that I helped my husband set up 'The Triathlon Shop' three years ago and have recently started working there full-time having given up a career in accountancy.

I'm lucky to be in the industry I love and often get to try out kit before it is released. When I do get to play with fun triathlon toys I tend to write a little review about my experiences. I also like to blog about my pathetic attempts to train and the fun I have in the summer racing and supporting all my friends at races.

New year, new challenges

twiggyby twiggyDec 31st 2014
There's no doubt its been a crazy year. How I've managed to fit in any competing at all is a miracle! A list of the years highlights include:

- New year at our Mallorca training camp
- Quitting my well paid job in accountancy to work at The Triathlon Shop full time
- Burnham Super Sprint
- Opening our new shop in Harbourside (the hardest thing I have ever had to do!)
- Passed my exams in sports and remedial massage therapy (also a massive challenge)
- Adidas TR24 trail run
- The swim leg of the London Triathlon
- The first ever North Bristol Triathlon Club triathlon
- Starting up TTSCamp - our Mallorca training camp is now open to all!

Next year is going to be just as crazy. In January and February we are hosting 2 weeks of training in a luxury villa in Mallorca. As the dust has settled on the new store we will also be spending more time supporting events all over the south west so I will be there cheering people on and taking photos.
I won't be competing or even training myself however, this being down to two main reasons:
1. I am pregnant! Due in June
2. Because of my pregnancy I have had to put surgery on hold to have the screws in my leg removed, and until this is done I cant really run or ride up hills.

So next year is all about bringing another little triathlete into the world, and supporting all my good triathlete friends. Its going to be no less challenging than 2014, but certainly different and I am looking forward to the all new terrifying challenge of motherhood.
An update on my year to date

It's been a really long time since my last post. I have good reason though - I promise! This year has been a completely crazy one leaving me little time for anything non work related. The general jist of what has gone on over the last 5 months is......
A morning of wearing 13 different lycra outfits

Today was my day off from working in the triathlon shop (I started working there full-time a couple of weeks ago after 3 years of only being able to help out on weekends). For the past week I have been looking at the huge range of womens tri kit ...

Here are a collection of things people have said to me about triathlon or or that I've overheard being said over the years which either frustrate or amuse me: "You must be super fit to do triathlon" and/or "I could never do a triathlon". Wrong...
Getting stealthy with Castelli - Review
twiggyby twiggy Jan 15th 2014
Last year at Kona there was a lot of buzz about the Castelli stealth tri top. It will be hitting the shelves in 2014 but I have been lucky enough to give it a bit of a test while out in Mallorca on training camp this new year. The idea behind th...
The best way to start 2014
twiggyby twiggy Jan 5th 2014
It has become a bit of a tradition since opening The Triathlon Shop that between Christmas and New year we shut up shop for a few days and all staff and team mates head to Mallorca for a week of training. This year I wasn't sure if I wanted to g...
