Holly's Tri mis-adventures
I'm a previously unsporty 20 something that has been trying very hard at tri for the last 6 years with minimal success! I love the sport to the extent that I helped my husband set up 'The Triathlon Shop' three years ago and have recently started working there full-time having given up a career in accountancy.

I'm lucky to be in the industry I love and often get to try out kit before it is released. When I do get to play with fun triathlon toys I tend to write a little review about my experiences. I also like to blog about my pathetic attempts to train and the fun I have in the summer racing and supporting all my friends at races.

I am a Plank.

I've done something this week that I didnt think I would do. I've gone and got membership at my local sports centre with the hope of tricking myself into doing more core strength work by paying loads of money for it!

Today was my maiden voyage into the world of the 'abs' class. Its a local sports centre not a gym, so I was expecting a bit of a natter with the other participants and a few sit ups. This is not what I got. It turns out that the abs class was basically 45 minutes of doing exercises that a) are really hard work and expose how feeble my core really is, and b) left me feeling rather inadequate compared to women I would have previously assessed as being less fit than me.

I am currently sat on a sofa with my laptop on my knee while my stomach area feels like it is actively growing new muscles that are already rebelling and trying to escape. The fact that I found the class so hard however is quite encouraging. I knew that I had a weak core, but before this experience I didnt realise just how weak. I think I am now armed with all the motivation I need to improve things.

I've stolen a little image tweeted by my friend and fellow Tri-blogs user Katie to sum up my experience...
I am a Plank.
Enough said.
