How quickly this race has come around!
Good luck to all taking part. HIgh quality pro field this year should provide some good racing and encourage some media interest, as well as bringing in some good crowds.

Tough race!

Managed to get round in 5:21. 65th overall, 10th AG.
And by virue of roll down qualified for Florida in November!!
Was aiming at 5 hours, but had a nasty crash at the end of the bike leg, left me in bits. But carried on with gritted teeth, bloodied feet and hands and knee!

Well done to everyone who finished, it's a beast of a race, and maximum respect to anyone who takes it on.
Even some Pros DNF'd, too cold out of swim onto bike. Got to go back next year to beat 5 hours and if Kit Stokes doesn't do it, I might have a chance at getting a top 3 AG!! 35-39 was very strong group this year. That said, they'll be all the 34 year olds going up a year so will be harder!

Hi RichG

Well done you too. When did you qualify?
I'm not in best shape for it at the moment, bloody knee injury, tracking problem, not ridden for 2 weeks, no running either. Very frustrating. Florida is looking more like a relaxing holiday with a bit of training thrown in!!

Hey RichG

Awesome result!! Well done!
I'm looking good for UK 70.3, had 6 months of consistent unbroken training, new coach. All positive.

Impossible to predict!!

Well, bad day at the office. 5:11. 54th overall and 5th AG, qualified for Clearwater, didn't take the slot in the end. Gonna wait for another time when I'm faster!
Just not on it on the day, not good enough, no excuses!
Bring on Antwerp 70.3. where I will definitely nail the m*****f***er!!!!!

Times are pretty slow - is it a tough course/Hot weather?

Hi Rich

I think 'hilly bike and run' would be an understatement!

Without a doubt it is one tough tough race. Damned hilly bike, and very technical, mostly off-road run. That's why there aren't many pros doing it!!!
Was also hot weather this year. Swim times were also a little slow from all, as I think the majority are so focussed on the hard bike to come. Long steep 400m run to T1 adds to the time. Bike times were quick this year as the conditions were good, but hot weather on the run made it a lot slower for all.
You gotta get back to the UK next year to give it a go!! :)

Would like to give it a go but Its just a little too early in the Year - if it was July I could make it!

I remember the Snowdon Half Ironman ....

No excuse!!! ;)

I'm off to Antwerp 70.3 in August, fast and flat, will be interesting to see what I can do on that course. Can't really compare it to Clearwater as I was injured last year, but it's a similar course. Might still decide to go to Clearwatwer if I qualify again at Antwerp, the missus has given me the all clear! :)

If I get an urge to do some hills later in the season might give this a go!!
