Follow my training plan through the winter of 2009 for my one and only Ironman event in 2010

It all starts again today.

Hi Folks,

The story thus far, I ran my first triathlon in late 2006 really enjoyed it and thought what the hell this should be fun. So I trained throught that winter and did my first full season in 2007 with over 12 races including 3 Olympic distances. I managed to get 2h32m in my first Olympic distance and the other two where both sub 2h30m. I thought it was time to move up a distance and enrolled for IRONMAN UK 70.3. At the close of the season I went right back to basics and produce a plan that had me peaking in time for the race in June 2008.

Winter training went fab, by easter I was running 20km 3 times a week and 10km 4 times, My Swimming was coming on well with regular session upto 3km. The bike was also improving lots of hard Spinning sessions and a lot of hill work appeared to be paying off.

Then it all went horribaly wrong, I took a break over easter 2008 and thought the sunny climates would really help my preps ...Abu Dhabi 3 runs all about 18 miles no problems, long swims feeling good, then of to Indonesia, in week 3 I started to feel abit under the weather, the hash runs may not of been a good idea.

On returning to the UK, I spent the next 8 weeks in bed and lost over 12 kilos in was another 3 months before I could even find the energy get back on the bike and I had totally wasted all of the hard work and motivation. I so went back to Golfing.........really missing the buzz now and think the time is right to start training again. Wish me luck.
