Banners, Slogans and Dimentionitus

TriBlogsby TriBlogsAug 16th 2012
We were contacted by Megan at BuildASign.co.uk to ask if we¬'d like to sample one of their Cheering Banners. We like to go to races to support athletes and so this sounded like a great idea. It was. The banners look great, they were easy to order and arrived very swiftly. They were much bigger than we expected, but this was my fault for having dimensionitus.

If you¬'ve ever raced you¬'ll know how much it helps when people make an effort to cheer for you. Check out these guys that we snapped at Ironman UK. Now that¬'s my kind of cheer squad.

The process of ordering the sign was really easy and we were allowed to add whatever message we wanted. Coming up with an idea for a motivational cheering slogan proved more difficult. I like to think that I¬'ve a good imagination, but when it comes to applying it to these situations I rarely find it easy. It¬'s like at Halloween when you have a fancy dress party to attend and you¬'re really excited, but at the last minute you realise that you¬'ve not actually got organised and have to rifle under the bed for anything black to throw ketchup on.

Unable to come up with my own inspired prose I looked to the internet for inspiration. Really glad I did, other people are great with imagination, here¬'s a few I found (sourced from Google images).

OK so maybe this last one is not that inspired, but it did make me laugh.

Initially I really liked the idea of something humorous. But worried that I might be the only one that found it funny. That would be embarrassing.

People enter races for all sort of reasons, but everyone wants to finish the race so we settled on a twist on Lance Armstrong¬'s ¬"pain is temporary¬" quote, adding "finishing lasts forever" (this was also because the tester race was going to be Ironman Nice which Lance was originally going to be racing).

If I had my time again I¬'m not sure I¬'d go for exactly the same wording, but so far I¬'ve not come up with the ultimate cheering slogan. When I do perhaps I¬'ll order another one in a Sarah friendly size this time.

Anyway, if you¬'re out on the race course anytime soon and you spot us then do give us a smile :o) Thanks to Megan and if you do want a cheering banner then I would recommend you check out BuildASign.

Our Cat even quite liked it.
