Crunch time...

prhimby prhimApr 16th 2010
OK, time for a surprise; despite looking and sounding like a seasoned triathlete (you'll just have to imagine the sarcasm in my voice...), I've never actually competed in a swim, bike, run race.

To date, all four of my races have been duathlons of various distances. But that's about to change as I join Wave 15 (of 16, damn my ambitious target swim time) for the Winchester Triathlon on Sunday.

The butterflies already floating in my stomach are compounded by both the bike (32km) and run (9.6km) legs being longer than I have raced to-date (making me quite nervous about pacing). Thank God the swim is only 400m....!

So the Year of Living Painfully (12 races in 12 months, all for Unicef: www.justgiving.com/mjfisher2010) is about to start living up to its name. Good luck to all who are racing, here's hoping for sun and no wind!
