Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Having taken part in several pool based sprint events since starting out in 2009, I wanted to celebrate turning 35 by completing the Vitruvian in 2011...with a long term goal of completing an Ironman by the time I'm 40. I'll keep track of the trials and tribulations here.

And so the countdown begins...

As I write this post I am looking at my phone which is steadily counting down to the point at which I make my return to "competition", although I barely qualify as "a competitor", more as someone hoping to merely complete the event...and I currently have 109 days, 4 hours, 46 minutes and 32...31...30 seconds until I toe the line at the start of the Cheltenham Half - well that's according to the Runkeeper app, and I can't quite believe that especially as the race starts at 9am and it's currently 12:20...

Anyway, the countdown has begun, and this evening I will be tying up my trainers and trying to find a top that covers the bulge that didn't exist the last time I ran to head out for the first run in my sub 2:15 training plan. I'm supposed to be doing a slow 4 miles, whether I make it or not is a different matter.
