Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Can I be an Ironman by 40 ?
Having taken part in several pool based sprint events since starting out in 2009, I wanted to celebrate turning 35 by completing the Vitruvian in 2011...with a long term goal of completing an Ironman by the time I'm 40. I'll keep track of the trials and tribulations here.

Not a great start

So just two weeks into the training plan for the Cheltenham Half (I'm signed up for Runkeeper's Sub 2:15 Half plan) and I am yet to start - let alone complete - a single workout. I've missed 8 sessions for a total of 41 miles so far.

Not an auspicous start to my return to training.

I am not entirely sure what has caused this, aside from laziness. I see the waistline expanding (my weight experiences more ups and downs than an amusement park rollercoaster), and while I'm not quite at the "puffing and panting on the way upstairs" stage which I have been at before, an extremely active almost 5 year old son means I will need to ensure that I up the game fairly quickly - at the moment he loses interest in kicking a ball around the garden fairly quickly, but that is bound to change before long.

Any tips on how to restart the training mojo would be gratefully received.
