How it all started!
I was always athletic growing up but became a true athlete when I started competing in triathlons at the age of 30. I was in pretty good shape, teaching fitness classes and going for an occasional jog to mix up my exercise routine.
My daughter was turning 1 year old the Summer of 2007 and I found myself looking for a little challenge to help me keep up with my workouts. At the same time my longtime friend came up with the idea of me joining her in a local triathlon race she was participating in. It sounded like a great idea and there was no hesitation from my side to join the challenge. I practiced swimming, biking and running and felt ready at the day of the race. So I thought!
After doing a few practice swims in the pool by myself with a pretty line panted on the bottom to guide my way, I found myself in a crowd of 150 "crazy" swimmers trying to desperately hold on to anything that would keep me above the water. Needless to say I totally underestimated the swimming portion of the triathlon and thought for a minute to just raise my arm up and let one of the lifeguards "save" me. Somehow I made it through the swim. All I remember is how happy I was seeing the bottom of the pond. Totally discouraged and exhausted I managed to get on the bike and started pedaling. To this day I am not sure exactly what happen, but after a few minutes of biking my frown turned upside-down and I haven't stopped smiling since. I finished third in that race, but most importantly my life was changed forever. I realized what an incredible opportunity lies within the athletic and competitive experience and how I can use it in my non-athletic life.
I am a Team THINK STRONG athlete. Welcome to my journey.

Hi Veronika,

This is quite a girly thing to say but I love your cycling kit!
Not just the colour (which I very much like) but Your Think Strong ethos. I once attended a lecture by Deborah Veale (Searle) who rowed across the Atlantic single handedly after her husband and rowing partner dropped out after 2 weeks. Every day she challenged herself to "choose your attitude" in order to get herself through and I've remembered this ever since.

Hi Sarah,
Team THINK STRONG is actual team I started only few months back. Any athlete who believes in the value of being mentally tough and take the lessons learned through athletic experience and use them in their lives can be part of this team. No memberships or charge for being part of this journey ;o) I just felt that I need to share my experiences and try that way to inspire and motivate other athletes. I will have a new race and training apparel available for purchase in February or March 2010. Check out my website!
Think Strong!
