Holly's Tri mis-adventures
I'm a previously unsporty 20 something that has been trying very hard at tri for the last 6 years with minimal success! I love the sport to the extent that I helped my husband set up 'The Triathlon Shop' three years ago and have recently started working there full-time having given up a career in accountancy.

I'm lucky to be in the industry I love and often get to try out kit before it is released. When I do get to play with fun triathlon toys I tend to write a little review about my experiences. I also like to blog about my pathetic attempts to train and the fun I have in the summer racing and supporting all my friends at races.

Post Knee Surgery

twiggyby twiggySep 2nd 2013
I'm now a couple of days post knee surgery and so far everything has been going ok. I'm in a bit of pain and cant do a whole lot for myself but I honestly expected worse so I cant complain. I'm able to walk up and down the stairs by myself while on crutches and in a heavy brace (it just leaves me needing a few hours of sleep to recover!), and I can also sleep pretty well which is the biggest relief. I'm yet to see all my scars but my surgeon assured me that they weren't too big. I'll find out when I've built up the guts to change my dressings!

I'm really please about being able to walk a little as hopefully this will mean I don't loose all the muscle in my legs. Having seen my surgeons post-op protocol it looks like I should be allowed to swim after 4 weeks (yay!) and possibly even some light turbo work. No running for at least 4-6 months though, but having spent over a year almost unable to run I can cope with this.
Post Knee Surgery
The most frustrating thing about this surgery is missing out on supporting friends at the World Champs in London. Newfit genius Chris and TTS team member Matt Fisher both qualified to represent GBR and will be proudly modelling Triathlon Shop sponsors logos on their GB kit for the race. I was desperate to go along and take photos and shout encouragement but its too soon after my surgery to be feasible. If anyone else sees them out on the course please do give them a (friendly) shout!

My aim for getting out of the house is to try and make it to the Saddleback dealer show in order to see all the new Felt bikes (as well as to drool over castelli kit!). This is happening next week so I'm trying to build myself up slowly to this.

Next short term aim - I'm desperate for the loo but home alone. Can I stand up from the sofa by myself and make it all the way upstairs?!

I'll post another blog soon with an update :)
