Holly's Tri mis-adventures
I'm a previously unsporty 20 something that has been trying very hard at tri for the last 6 years with minimal success! I love the sport to the extent that I helped my husband set up 'The Triathlon Shop' three years ago and have recently started working there full-time having given up a career in accountancy.

I'm lucky to be in the industry I love and often get to try out kit before it is released. When I do get to play with fun triathlon toys I tend to write a little review about my experiences. I also like to blog about my pathetic attempts to train and the fun I have in the summer racing and supporting all my friends at races.

Training away from home

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who have to travel for their job. I am one of them, and for the next 2 weeks I am spending my time living in a hotel near Birmingham airport.

This concerns me as I will be away from my physio, my training partner (also known as husband), my bike and my gym classes. I also dont know the area and so am unsure how 'lone young female running in the dark' friendly it is. I will also be eating meal deals every lunch time and eating in resturants every night.

So, the question is - after a decent week of training how can I keep it going while away from home?

My first plan was the ditch the hotel my employer usually suggest and book myself into a hotel with a gym and pool. This means I can at least do something every evening before stuffing my face with cream laced 3 course dinners.
I will also be taking the instrument of torture that is my foam roller (hate that thing!), to try and replicate at least some of the physio I get every week just to keep myself mobile.

The chances are I will come back heavier, slower and less motivated. Time will tell.
